If Sony primarily focused on the standalone features of the Vita, and treated cross-play as the bonus feature that it is, that'd be one thing. But with their push to give people who get PS3 games the free Vita version, and executives saying the Wii U is pointless because the Vita grants the same functionality, they're clearly trying to push the PS3 + Vita as a direct contender to the Wii U. Which is even more misguided than the already dubious "console in your pocket" model that the system is built around from the ground up.

At $250 dollars for both systems, the PS Vita + PS3 combo is NOT a viable alternative to buying a Wii U, and Sony marketing it like that is stupid as hell. Plus piss poor Vita sales give third-party devs little more reason to take advantage of the cross play features than to make games for the handheld at all.

I've been loyal to Sony for nearly 2 decades, but at this point I have no idea what the hell it's doing. Who told them that this was a good idea?
