I was looking for this other gun related story that happened in Texas a long time ago where was firing an old gun with a string in a creek bed with his friends. He then walked out of the creek bed with the string still attached to the trigger, gun pointed up, and still loaded. He then stepped on the string which caused the gun to fire shooting him in the head. His friends then had to kill his dog because the dog thought one of them hurt his owner and went crazy. I couldn't find that story but I did find this article though... It eventually led to a drug arrest too.

Michael Smeriglio, 18, initially lied to police and claimed he had been shot as he walked down the street in Port St. Lucie, Florida on Thursday.
But after he was questioned by police, he admitted he had done it to himself while cleaning a gun at a friend's house on Verada Street."
