Trade schools are absolutely something that should be encouraged... but let us not kid ourselves about factory and production jobs in the US. That sort of labor is being exported, and to bring it up in the same train of thought as actual skilled trade work makes no real sense.
Trade schools and skilled labor should also NOT come at the expense of promoting college, it should be a valid option but not seen as the only option.
The real issue is that no one is pushing our children into engineering and hard science majors, these are important jobs that country needs and that we currently hire foreign firms to provide.
