It will be up to Nintendo to set and raise the bar on visuals on their own console.

While no one can rule out the possibility of a 3rd party exclusive developed by a studio that specifically attempts to produce "the best looking visuals" on the Wii U, there really isn't much incentive for any studio to divert the resources into such an effort.

While I say this without even knowing the final specs on any of the three future consoles, smart money says the PS4 and Xbox 3 will be better platforms for "best visuals on a console" if that's what a particular developer is shooting for among their marketing bullets.

Personally, I don't see why that would even be a convincing marketing bullet point for a Wii U game as the focus is supposedly about the tablet interface. If all a developer wants to do is create a game that plays like any other console game and uses the standard "pro" controller, then I don't see any reason why said game would be any better off on the Wii U than it would on any other console.
