Someone who buys a Wii in 2006 is likely to buy a lot more games during the Wii's lifetime than someone who buys it in 2012. Additionally, the games for the Wii will be sold at a far lower price in 2012 than in 2006.
Ensuring the success of their next machine is a lot more important than squeezing out the last 10-20 million of the Wii.
