Just as a observation from my life, the older the iPhone a person has the less interested they are in Apple's new iPhone ...

It is a pretty common trend in multiple markets that the people who need an upgrade the least are the most likely to upgrade. To use a different product as an example, gamers who own a PS3, XBox 360 and Wii will probably represent nearly half of all people who buy Wii U systems this year while gamers who only own a Wii will probably (mostly) be waiting until 2014 or later.
