You might be right. I don't think we can say that yet for certainty. If thats the truth then they should've come foward and said that.

I think the only other possibility is that Nintendo offerred Platinum Games a lot more money with heavy advertising for the game. Platinum Games obviously wanted Bayonetta 2 to be more successful, so I can see why they agreed to that offer.

I already know for certain that Sega was backing out of the game. And with no funding and no publisher, your game is practically dead.  Whether Nintendo came to them or they came to Nintendo is the real question to me.  Who approached whom?

When you put it like that then yes I can agree with the decision to make the game exclusive. At this time Nintendo can offer a franchise like Bayonetta more than what Sony or Microsoft can offer, so Platinum Games have probabily made the right choice.
