| DieAppleDie said: i think the eDram quantity was stated by IBM an his webpage they said it tripled the eDram used until now, probably 32MB the WiiU has a GPGPU instead of a separate CPU, GPU, so the 1GB of main RAM will be used for CPU functions and GPU functions, by the GPGPU, which is a GPU acting as a CPU and a GPU at the same time......got it? the remaining 1GB its still a mystery |
Saying it is a GPGPU doesn't mean that it is an APU ... more likely it means that the GPU is based on a modern architecture that has demonstrated support for (something like) CUDA.
I would suspect that the 2GB total memory is shared by the CPU and GPU but that both processors would have embedded memory and on the CPU that would act as a L3 cache and memory on the GPU would represent the screen buffers and a texture cache. As a guess I would say that the CPU probably has 16MB to 32MB of embedded memory while the GPU has 32MB to 64MB of embedded memory.
