While the CPU *may* be better than S3's, Samsung has the same GPU, more RAM, and far more features... especially as they get Jelly Bean (android 4.1) this coming month.
S3 is at the very least on par with iPhone 5 and it came out months ago. Anyone saying iOS is better than Android or the other way around really is a matter of opinion. However, looking at the feature set between the latest of each and I'd argue strongly in Android's favor.
In terms of hardware, the lack of NFC, standard micro usb connection, and SD card support in an iPhone all put the S3 in particular as well as the average Android phone ahead of iPhone 5 as well.
