March release vs. Holiday Season release definitely makes a difference.
The other thing I think is that a home console with shared play potential can have elevated value during Thanksgiving and Christmas type gatherings. To this day, my Wii, Kinect, or both end up getting played most when there are people over and activity sort of leans to playing Wii Sports or Kinect Sports for some good times.
