8,760 hours in a year times 9 years = 78,840 man hours. Lies, damn lies, statistics. That's plenty of time for a game like this! Sure, the original Baldur's Gate took ten times the man hours, but that was with a completely inexperienced team that was also working on the engine as they went along. This is different.
