Wii U: The price is right or is $299 the new $599?

I never have bought a console for over $299 (PS3) and even though I am getting the deluxe version, it feels like I am buying a black $299 Wii U with Nintendoland and some cool stands (and a premium service but that's not really notable.) I know it's getting awesome games and I don't intend to wait 3 years just to save $50.
