It's fine. I think anyone who's into gaming will get the Deluxe version for the extra GB and charger (plus NintendoLand) anyway, it's worth the extra $50 for that.

But if someone wants a WiiU just for one or two specific games (Wii FitU & Sports Connection, or Zelda & Mario or MH3 or Tiger Woods) then the basic unit is perfect for those light gamers.

Problem with NintendoLand is you need friends/family to play most of the games. Unlikely Wii Sports which was great alone or with others. 6 years ago I'd definitely want NintendoLand to play with my kids but my kids are grown and my wife won't play those games so I'd have little use for it now (still fine as a pack-in)
