Most of what he said wasn't really acurate GPGPU has been arround since about 2004, and basically allows some tasks that would usally be run on a CPU to be run on a GPU. For games that is usally physics and decompression, as they are tasks better suited to GPUs. The downside is you are using GPU time to do things which for a game means that you sacrifice graphical performance, to save some CPU time. And many tasks are not suited to GPUs so all in all it is not really a replacement for fast CPU, as not all situations will make the tradeoff worth while.
