Maybe, but it'll be very hard to compete with the PC (steam) and if Microsony make they're online stores more open and accessible than they are now, which they probably will do, it'll give them even more competition. (and they already attract plenty of indie devs)
The way I see their whole online network compared to Steam/XBL/PSN is paralleled to PSN vs XBL earlier this gen, that is the Wii U will probably be one step behind Xbox, Playstation and of course Steam for the rest of next gen unless they pour an incredible amount of resources into it.
