Having to get a smash ball as Samus to use her would mean that she'll probably be the least played character in the game.

Select Samus and then hold R when pressing Start to go to the stage screen.

Either that or hold R when selecting Samus. I forget which, but yes, you can, which means both ZSS and Sheik are fully playable even without items on.

Nice, that's good to know.

 

I don't really care about review scores - I just want the game to be more balanced than melee.
