I only ever played a bit of Warhawk, but Starhawk is a completely different beast. People who were hoping to play Warhawk 2 when getting SH are going to be disappointed, indeed (but then again, I would hope not too many people would expect that).
Personally, I loved it because it was different. The build & battle system just worked really, really well. I like the maps (which got even better with the Cypress DLC), I enjoyed the combat, I liked the levels of different strategies you could take to win a game mode, I like the clan features and I like the theme of the game. The single player was pants, but I can look past that for what is - for me - the best multi-player game since TF2.
