Wow! I guess that would be difficult (to give out benefits) since it's such a small country and you guys might not make enough money? |
Singapore is actually a rich country. We are one of the most affluent countries in the world. Our Prime Minister earns $3 MILLION dollars a year. Our President $4 Million a year. They are the highest paid politicians in the world.
But guess what. Singaporeans as a whole, especially the middle and lower class are VERY POOR. The income disparity is HUGE.
Singapore imports ALOT of foreigners and they take away the jobs from the locals. More than one-third of the population in Singapore is now made up of Foreigners from India, China, Phillipines, Malaysia, Indonesia who take away jobs from the locals and push down the wages due to them being able to accept a lower wage than Singaporeans.
In spite of the local population's outcry againsts the government's policy of importing foreigners, they go on to do things like spending huge sums of money on foreigners.
Here are some examples.
1) Deny Singapore students a place in the local university. Pay money to import foreigners to study in Singapore and pay for their lodging + school fees.
2) Bashing Singapore Citizens of being useless compared to foreigners who are "Cheaper, Better and Faster". We are probably the only country in the world where our politicians openly bash our own citizens.
3) The huge influx of foreigners pushing up the price of houses in Singapore. We have a term for our apartments. Its called "Shoe Box Appartments". Which cost 800k to 1 million SGD and they are only around 600 square feet. Even our flats which are supposedly subsidised by the government hit a high of 1 millions.
4) Singapore government importing China nationals to represent us in the Olympics. These China nationals are being paid a salary, lodging provided, training being paid for. And when they won the bronze medals in table tennis, these China nationals were being paid $250k EACH.
We had a local who took part in Olympics too I think. His training wasn't paid for, nothing was provided for him. When he won a bronze medal, he was only paid $50k.
I'm going to give myself as an example. I suffer from severe Haemophilia. My medical fees are at least $600 a month. On bad months where I get severe bleeds, my cost can go up to a thousand or more. What happens if I'm unemployed and have no money to pay for my medications? Nothing. I will bleed to death. The government won't care.
And I thought only corporate jobs were being taken away from Singaporeans by the foreigners. No. As a part time theatre actor, I went to an audition last week and I was the only local there in the audition room. The rest were from Malaysia, Phillipines, India, Thailand. I was like F*ck my Life.
