Again... that's why I said it was a first step.

It won't make you a ton of money, but it sure will get you to the point of where you have a good amount of it for later investments.

How many year do you give revenues generated from paper assets to return sufficiently enough money to be able to have a good amount for later investments?  The Average American lost over 40% net worth of paper assets and home equity they had, due to the financial meltdown.  Not saying paper assets isn't part of the plan, but someone without much money, is going to have to do things differently to get anywhere, like somehow get real estate with rental income pay for itself, or set up a business or something.  Heck, by some miracle figure out a way to sell stuff over the Internet.

In this, the person isn't likely to employ anyone either.  And paper assets won't get the person to hire anyone.  It might get funding to a business, but that would have to be an IPO.  Merely buying and selling paper assets on financial markets isn't going to get a person to hire anyone at all.  And thus, what the woman was saying, through paper assets, is bullocks.

I've seen it take people, about 3 years.

And like I said, this is a strategy for people WITH jobs.
