Actually, I don't know if this was specified in the Nintendo design, but the idea of the smaller screen (a Vita?) on top of the gun acting as a scope is pretty nifty. One of the worst things about using a scope in most games is that you lose all close proximity awareness until something bashes you in the skull, then you have to re-orient yourself for close range. It would also let you scan for movement then quickly find your target without all the in-and-out that normally goes along with sniper scenarios.
Not a bad idea, to be honest. I don't know if it's practical, but I kind of like it.
