You know, with all the hating that the gaming industry has done on the DS, Wii, and Wii U, I just feel like Nintendo is on a completely different line by offering different products than the "core" industry wants, from developers to gamers. They're instead giving a product that other types of gamers enjoy, and this doesn't resonate well with the audience that the industry is heavily known for (the audience which permeates the strongest in the gaming culture). So, with the gaming culture that we have, it's fairly obvious that they're going to throw around negative statements all the time regarding Nintendo - just as gaming forum users typically do with mobile games. It's not news really, and has absolutely no hold on the reality of the situation.

It's similar to how so many forums despise mobile gaming and think it sucks even though it's growing and revenues are expanding substantially. The forum audiences are those who mobile games do not resonate well with, so no duh they wouldn't enjoy them. That doesn't mean, however, that there isn't a large audience out there who doesn't enjoy them.

That's what it feels like.

Everyone has different tastes when it comes to entertainment.  I would like to add that a lot of the hate on mobile gaming on gaming forums is probably due to the fact that the gaming media has been shoving it down our throats that smartphone/tablet gaming is the future (and nothing else).  It would be a sad day to see dedicated hand helds die and only option would be to play on a phone or tablet.  Is there room for both?  I believe so but most gaming articles usually state that iOS and Android are the only options in the future.
