SSBB's sales are truly amazing but I believe that DMC4 and Disgaea 3's sales are more interesting because while SSBB was expected to do very well (only limited by supply) and we know that casual and cross appeal titles do well on the Wii (so that SSBB should do better than SSBM like MP8 did better than Mario Party games on the GC) DMC4 and Disgaea 3 tell us new information.

DMC4 tells us that hardcore PS3 games can sell as much as their PS2 predecessors: DMC4 should sell at leas as much as DMC3 (around 290k. +50k for the special edition). This is good news for Sony and PS3 3rd party.

Disgaea 3 tells us that niche JRPG titles that do not rely on flash (HD graphics) can do ok on the PS3. I doubt that it would have sold much more if it boasted complicated 3D HD graphics but the increased budget would have made it a flop whereas the smaller budget needed to to it this way means it should do ok for itself. On the other hand there was the risk that not using flashy graphics could kill it as PS3 owners are expected to care more about them due to their general emphasis on the console but these good sales (for that kind of title) means that it can be a viable strategy which is good new for smaller 3rd party thinking of doing PS3 projects in Japan.

All in all, a great week for both Nintendo and Sony.

SSBB didn't outsell the pokemons? Failure am confirmed.

I lie! New popular thread to be "SSBB only sells half of the pokemons for first week, lolz".

You forgot '=)' at the end .
