Lets compare here; circumcision offers very little in the way of benefits (smaller HIV transmission chance, lower chance of infection, 'fitting in'), all of which can be helped later in life by learning to clean yourself and either using a condom or...you know, NOT having unprotected sex with someone who has HIV, which you shouldn't do regardless of your foreskin status. And, if you so chose to 'fit in' later in life, you have that right to decide for yourself, if I was held down against my will and forced to get a circumcision, I'd be VERY angry.

Compared to the cons. While there's a small, easily preventable risk, circumcision DOES reduce pleasure for the male by chopping off tens of thousands of nerve endings, as well as exposing the glans, making it dry and desensitized. Add to it the fact that circumcision comes with its own risks of unique infections and death (according to one poster here), there's really no balance. Circumcision is bad.

Hell, even the BENEFITS are hotly debated...for every positive study, there's an equally negative study, so even the perceived benefits aren't definite.

So that's why people don't accept that circumcision has medical benefits: It doesn't. There is no medical proof that says there ARE benefits, just that there might be.
