Sure, but you have to realize that Microsoft and Sony went very, very powerful for the 7th gen with consoles that were very expensive, and incurred big losses. In the case of the 360, things worked out nicely for them. In the case of PS3, it didn't. Every generation we see more and more power needed for less and less reward. It's not even so much about their mentality, but what is reasonably possible. Heat alone would make Durango and Orbis expensive, "near-PC towers with cooling systems" sitting there in your living room if they went with that kind of power. Why would either company go that route when the masses are still content with PS360 graphics? For Nintendo, it makes sense to update their console to "current" HD level power. But for Microsoft and Sony, I think originality and innovation are what is going to make the masses see a need to upgrade, and that doesn't mean that we can't get some mighty fine graphics from them in the process. It just means that I expect all three consoles to be close enough to be able to share the same multiplats, unlike this generation.
