I'd say you're wrong on the harem part at least, as it seems there's only one romantic relationship and they're married in the opening bits of the game....

Have you played any RPGs where you played teen male? Generally, they're dressed to look pretty and such, so I don't how one is worse than the other and certainly don't understand how playing this would make you feel like a pedo.
