F1 Won’t See A Yearly Release On Wii U Due To “Casual” Audience

What "hardcore" games on the Wii put up monster numbers relative to the size of its userbase (being significantly bigger than PS3 or 360?). There were some decent exclusives like GoldenEye and Monster Hunter Tri.

Fact is there is a big portion of the Wii userbase that simply just buys fitness/party/dance/shovelware crap with the odd Mario game thrown in.

Even with Nintendo, they've had trouble selling more core centric IP not named Mario on the Wii (to the point where they only gave Xenoblade a limited release in the West and just bailed on The Last Story entirely ... why? Because they know there's no market on the Wii for these types of games).

I don't think Wii U changes the equation that much.

We shall see.  The console has yet to release, and will be getting ports (in all likelihood) of any game coming out for PS360 for the next year or 2.  Then, it will also likely get ports of games coming out for PS720 at least during the first year of those consoles cycle, if not for the entirety of the life cycle.  So if you can get a Wii U now for 300 dollars, and it does everything the other guys can and has all the games (minus a few exclusives), what's the point of owning the other two guys.

Personally, I believe that Nintendo has positioned themselves to recreate the NES->SNES transition.  Xbox and Playstation will be the next NEOGEO/3DO.  IF they announce big 3rd party support on sept 13, it will be almost certainly true.
