It would be silly for Nintendo to purposely hold back on supplies of the Wii at this point in time. It hurts a company's bottom line to store unsold inventory. Unless retailers are ordering fewer units (highly unlikely), then I bet Nintendo is steadily sending out units as they get them in. I was at local Target (Oaks, PA) this afternoon (~1PM) and saw that they had a bunch of Wiis in stock. This could be a sign of softening demand, but I bet it has more to do with the holiday weekend. Mario Party 8 will probably help move any remaining systems they have later this week. (Edit: Just a quick note that Target was holding Wii inventory for today's ad. That's another reason they have them in stock; they weren't on display yesterday. ) |
it would be crazy for them not to stockpile Wiis for christmas. If they don't start now they will run out at Christmas. You have to remember that there are a lot of people who will but a Wii at Christmas who won't buy it/will buy something else if it's not available.
now people will be prepared to wait but at Christmas time if little Johhny wants a gaming system and the Wii isn't available they're gonna buy a PS3.
Nintendo absolutely needs a huge amount of Wiis to release during the Christmas shopping period.
