I'm sure that's all true. I haven't played Other M.
The point I was getting at with my original "What?" was that they changed Metroid up with Prime and it didn't go down the shutter (!), if anything it increased in quality.
Other M attempted to change things up with Metroid and it failed because the things that made it great in the first place weren't there.
That's all I'm saying they should do with Mario. Pull a Metroid Prime, not an Other M.
If that's too hard to do because it's 2D/ The forumla is already peaked / There's no move to 3D, then maybe they just need to give the series a rest. Or keep making them and keep making money from them. But I reckon there's still a sweet spot which could be hit yet, I just don't know what it is!
