I agree the new Super Mario Bros. series it's getting annoying, it's sad considering 2D Mario games were supposed to be the best, but there're far superior 2D platformers like DKC returns, Rayman Origins, Super meat boy, etc.
Thankfully the 3D Mario games are still amazing and fun to play.
