Beside the "kiddy" story and themes, the bright colors in Mario games do look "kiddy" especially in New Super Mario Bros, games, and it sells. When kids see something colorful like a Mario game, they will make sure mom will buy it for Christmas. Super Mario Bros. 2 for the 3DS has a very bright yellow colored box and that will really attract kids even more. Even i got pulled by that yelow gold box. Colors do sell.
