It was the Super NES for me but I also played on my friend's Megadrive and had a blast with it. That console war thingy never got to me until the PSX / N64 days because we never talked about consoles in my school until we reached a certain age.
Totally random comment: Whenever I see videos of old games I get extremely excited for the Wii U! I'm one of those people who love to multitask when it comes to entertainment: I often play handheld games in front of my TV. The TV helps to get over the boring parts of a game (even the good ones have them!) but I can't play console games while watching TV... well I could but I don't feel like buying a second TV... my girlfriend would kill me... but damn wouldn't that be awesome?!?
...Ok back to my point: I can see myself going on a buying spree once the Wii U hits. I'm so gonna (re-)play all of those NES, SNES, Megadrive, N64 and Gamecube games on Virtual Console and finally purchase the ones I haven't gotten yet. I will finally have the time to play them because I won't need to have the TV for myself to play! Holy Cow!
