Aren't you on steroids? Could that be affecting your recent temperament?
Anyway, I definitely think people can change their personality and how they approach different situations. Part of it is from learning from the negative repercussions of your old behavior. If you are able to have some serious introspection and can assess the fundamental root causes for your undesirable actions, you can learn to foresee when something in the environment is likely to set you off, or trigger your anger in this case, even if its seconds or hours away from happening you can control it, shift the anger in another direction or walk away from it. That's how I learnt to deal with my anger anyway.
I've seen people who have changed how they speak, dress, and how they approach social situations completely, to the extent that they are a completely different person. One person in particular I know has seen his circle of friends grow wider and has had a wave of recent success with the ladies, so I'm sure he's far happier with his new self. I would say if it feels comfortable, no matter what it is, go for it.
