Why? It sold under 50k in the USA last month, which is extremely low. They need a price cut ASAP!

I knew someone was going to take that seriously, and it's sad that it turned out to be you. :P

I was immitating the people who keep thinking that a price-cut is a horrible and worthless decision for Vita.

(Hopefully you're not tricking me...)

I don't think Vita technically "should" drop price, more so they NEED to drop price if you know what I mean. The system is priced directly perportionate to it's worth and people are ALWAYS going to want to get things as cheap as possible There are things leaning Sony in both Directions.

Pro Price Drop-

  • Vita is too expensive in the current market when the immediate competition is almost half the price.
  • Sony's hand is being forced due to market ignorance. The Media and all this "Doom" nonesense about handheld gaming and the fact Nintendo(the market leader) succumbed makes a price drop mandatory regardless of actual worth to the consumer they fear the same thing that happened to 3DS early adopters will happen to them.
  • Bad decisions on many fronts as far as advertising and delays of certain features that were promised earlier on have hurt the brand even more.
  • The system is struggling to gain 3rd party support. The tech is there but Publishers are hesitant due to low sales, price drop is 100% likely to boost sales.
Con Price Drop-
  • Sony is in a financial choke hold. They need every cent they can muster. To drop price now just means more losses. Even if it is selling 1 system a day, it is GAINING profit.
  • Sony is a very proud and stuborn company. They have always had an air about them that they think their products are 1st class. They usually are(in my opinion) but they trend to like to be higher class when the common consumer in their market is middle to lower.
  • They don't want to give in to Self FullFilling Price Drop Rumours or it will never stop.
  • It is very early for any console to be dropping price. So what if Nintendo did it, their system was really worth what they were asking.
  • People often times regard cheaper price as inferior products. Sony is going after Smart Phone/Device market(seeing as they are supposedly creeping in on theirs) and if they can charge exorbant premiums, Sony should AT LEAST be able to sell at a gain(less than $50 a Vita).
