Let's just clarify here... the word tablet is only in reference to the general size and shape and how you hold it, as well as there being a capability of writing on it in some way. The UPad matches all those so it IS a tablet device.

What it isn't... is a tablet computer. As it doesn't perform the same kind of functions as a computer. Multi-touch still isn't a qualifier for something to be a tablet computer, there have certainly been enough tablet computers with single-touch screens before.

You are rating it too literally. It is just like PC. PC stands for personal computer. The computer you own is your personal computer. Not all computers are PCs. Its a term for a type of computer that took a literal approach. Internet Explorer is a program to explore the internet. Not all browsers are internet explorers.

Tablet as it applies to electronics are generally handheld computers. The tablet name is taken from its functionality like a paper tablet. It is the same with a Notebook.

The Upad is not a computer. It has no functionality. Its just a dumb(p?) terminal that receives a video feed and allows you to interact with it through a touch screen and gyroscope. It is a pure gaming extension.

Hmm, ok you make a good point (tablet computers are called as such because of their similarities to old writing tablets though)

The points made in the article make no sense though... the fact that the screen is single-touch and that it also has buttons wouldn't stop it from being a tablet (computer). Instead it's the fact that it can't actually compute (on any other level than simply sending and recieving commands) and only works in the vicinity of the console that stops it being a tablet.
