It's all pointless, anyway. Most people don't even want 1080p. Oh, they'll say they do, but that's only in the context of all other things being equal. Obviously if you could choose between 720p and 1080p, you'd take 1080. But that's not how it works. As long as 720 @ 30fps is considered acceptable, most gamers (and developers) would rather use the rest of the accessible power improving the lighting, the physics, the particle effects. Resolution and framerate don't take a priority over those kinds of things.
