Did it not take the developers a while to admit that they were influenced by SSBB. If I recall correctly, they went out of their way at first to downplay (deny) any SSBB connections.

I only remember the You Tube tags acknowledging SSBB.  The press releases, if my memory is correct, skirted around the subject.

The tags is not something they had direct control over.

What exactly did you want them to say?

"Hey look everybody, we're stealing a game that someone else already made and we're calling it our own lulz!!" When was the last time you saw anyone do that?

That's not the point though. The point was that Mike agrees with you in that it took them time to admit it, while dgc disagreed. The youtube thing is one example of PR avoiding the ressemblance.
