Do you really need the warranty? My warranty expired in June, and I upgraded my HDD in July (not because of the warranty, that's when I needed more space) My PS3 has been doing fine since then.
In fact I never had any problems in which I needed to use the warranty. Never had any problems other than the occasional game freeze (which was more occasional when I played Skyrim lol)
Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.
Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash
