This is where I've always thought cross platform is a make-or-break for Sony. The problem with that is they're marketing essentially to the same gamers who already enjoy these practically same type of games which are on the consoles, or worse, the PS3.

What makes Mario special is because Nintendo has managed to establish their mascot with a crossover personality. It works not only because they market for ALL but it's strategically placing Mario by experiencing Mario in different genres.
It's not necessarily nostalgia but at times it's just the simple reason of we're used to it since NES and Gameboy came out.
