I wouldn't put this past EA to be honest (and it would explain their recent reactions to Wii-U), but reddit is not a credible source. Anyone can post anything there. In fact, give me 5 minutes and I could post the exact opposite to this rumour on my account to r/games, and then link it here in VGChartz.
An interesting read, but nothing more than that at this point.
