Totally agree with you there. Personally I consider X-2 to be the proper eleventh numbered FF, there I fixed it.

I'll give them a chance with XIV though, they are promising a story this time.

And when it comes to sequels let's not forget that The Advent Children is basically FF VII-2. Check and mate.
