On topic: No way will apple release an 800 dollar iphone with a contract.

They already do in Europe.

iPhone 4S 16GB from T-mobile is £36/month plus £49 upfront for 24 month contract, that's $1388. Not even unlimited.

Well when you look at it with the monthly payments it is pretty expensive, but just buying the phone itself, in the US, it's $200.  Then if I were to add on the monthly payments, especially with my families, which is 200 a month with 6 people, my mom pays a lot for our iphones.  This is at AT&T.

If you want just the wholesale phone cost, it's £500 = $775 to replace a 4S on that contract if it breaks. It's also about that on amazon.co.uk unolcked.

I bet that's a 12 month contract though. More of that cost is the phone cost, compare over 24 instead.

It seems like the US always has cheaper prices. I don't really know why.  Probably mostly comes down to the strength of each currency.

hmm not sure about usa price, here in germany an iphone 4s 16gb unlocked without contract costs 629€ in the apple store which is $765.  we have 19% taxes here so without taxes $643. that's the official price and you could get it maybe 30€ cheaper in another shop.  how much does it cost without tax in usa unlocked without contract?
