Well, my biggest gripe with the plot is the entire motivation of the bad guys, headed by Talia. They have the exact same motivation than Raz al Ghul did in the first movie, which can be described by "Blow Gotham up because it's such a shithole". You can understand that motivation for the first movie, since there Gotham is depicted as a pretty dirty and violent place. With the third movie however, it's very clear at the beginning that Gotham has changed for the better after some new laws have passed. Everything's clean and the police doesn't have anything to do since there's barely any crime. That motivation which held up for first movie has thus been completely invalidated. "I'm gonna blow Gotham up because of all the crime!" - "But there isn't any crime." - "Well, uh... I'm gonna blow it up anyway." Yea, makes total sense. |
Actually the movie does a good job of showing the corruption of the very people. Crime comes in many forms and indulgence by the rich leaving nothing to the working poor can be seen too many as crime. One of my favorite lines from the movie was bane talking to the Stock broker as they were breaking into the stock exchange.
Stock Broker :There's no money to steal from here this is just a stock exchange.
Bain: then what are you doing here?
I think the League of shadows was the perfect fit for the movie to bring everything back to where it started.
