Kingdom fans! Tomorrow is the day Kingdom Hearts 3D arrives in North America (already released in Europe and Japan)! This may not be Kingdom Hearts 3, but this is Kingdom Hearts!

Basic Info:

Set immediately after the events of Kingdom Hearts II and Re:coded, Dream Drop Distance is deeply connected with the mysteries surrounding all those involved in Birth by Sleep, and all which occurred in it. With the contents of the letter sent by King Mickey seen in the ending of Kingdom Hearts II revealed, this Nintendo 3DS title sees Sora and Riku depart to the Mysterious Tower to partake in the Mark of Mastery exam, proctored by the wise and powerful sorceror-come-master Yen Sid, overseen by His Majesty. They delve into the Realm of Sleep, in order to wake up those worlds that have drifted away in sleep and bring them back to reality.

Being equipped with clothes closely based off of outfits seen in Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix + , the duo set off into worlds that we have seen, as well as some new additions: La Cite des Cloches (based on Hunchback of Notre Dame), Country of the Musketeers (Mickey · Donald · Goofy: The Three Musketeers), Symphony of Sorcery (Fantasia), Prankster's Paradise (Pinocchio) and The Grid (Tron Legacy).

Introducing new systems such as Flowmotion and Reality Shift, as well as the depth of the 3D features of the 3DS, this title brings Kingdom Hearts to an entirely new level!

Playable Characters:

Sora - the main protagonist in the Kingdom Hearts series, as well as a Keyblade wielder. He is an upbeat teenager who may seem simple-minded at times, but is very aware of the importance of his quest. He possesses a strong sense of justice and an unrelenting heart. At times he is impulsive and quick to anger when defending his friends, but he is always sincere about what he says and does. He has also been best friends with Riku and Kairi since he was a small boy.

Riku - the deuteragonist of the Kingdom Hearts series. He is a Keyblade wielder that has the power of Darkness, and is always ready to sacrifice himself to protect his friends. Riku is usually despicted as being stronger than Sora in Kingdom Hearts fanart, and is the second most popular character for cosplay, after Sora. Riku's name is derived from the Japanese word for "land".

Worlds:

 From Kingdom Hearts 1

 The Hunchback of North Dame

 Pinocchio

Mickey, Donald, and Goofy: The Three Musketeers

 Fantasia

 Tron: Legacy

Also... one final world, which I will not spoil...

Dream Eaters:

The new enemies that appear in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. There are two types of Dream Eaters: ones that "eat dreams and plant nightmares", referred to as Nightmare Dream Eaters, and ones that "eat nightmares", referred to as Spirit Dream Eaters. The Dream Eaters are the form darkness takes in the sleeping worlds as Heartless and Nobodies cannot enter.

The Spirit Dream Eaters are your partners in this game. You can raise them like pets can provide you new abilties and attacks by "linking" with them.

Gameplay:

This game features a command deck like interface similar to what is used in Birth By Sleep and re:Coded.

Drop System: a gauge that gradually depletes over time. Once it depletes, you automatically Drop and switch characters. You CAN Drop at will at Save points, though.

Dive System: basically how you travel through worlds. This is like the Gummi Ship stages in Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, but with no ship...

Flowmotion:  a parkour-like way of navigating the world at speed, makes battles considerably more dynamic, bouncing between enemies to perform special moves.

Link Attacks: What I said in the Dream Eater section. The Spirit Dream Eater you collect and train will provide you with new attacks and abilities by "linking" with them. Sora teams up with the Dream Eaters, while Riku absorbs them to perform attacks.

Reality Shift: The player character dives into the bottom screen and the battle stops for a brief period of time while the player is prompted on the bottom screen to fulfill a series of operations in order to initiate a powerful attack. These abilities differ for both Sora and Riku in every single world. For example in Country of the Musketeers, the Reality Shift takes the appearance of a comic strip. You slide or touch corresponding to the commands, and a special technique occurs as a result on the top screen.
