I concur with Squilliam.
Wii's motion controls really were a revolution and one it's competitor's couldn't quickly emulate. Wii Sports sold the concept and made it accessible to the mass market.
The touch screen merely makes WiiU a home based DS (or Vita). It seems more reactionary to what's out already (iOS) than revolutionary AND since Sony/MS systems are still far from releasing (not even announced yet) their next gen systems, they can easily follow suit if the touch screen proves popular.
MS subscription payment plan could have their next gen system launching with a price tag far lower (yet more profitable) than WiiU's.
Personally, I realize as I'm writing this, I'm just really pissed at Nintendo for abandoning everything that made Wii great - accessible gameplay (I don't want to use a dual analog controller), innovation and visceral gameplay. WiiU is not what I want. Currently, 90% of my gaming is on iOS/Android devices (9% Wii, 1% 360). I don't see WiiU changing that.
