-A mass bell ringing was held at 8:12 BST to celebrate the opening of the games. All across England, bells of all shapes and sizes were rung for 3 minutes, as a music project by a former Turner Prize winning artist:

-The Olympic torch may be on its last day (and is currently sailing down the Thames on a beautiful royal boat), but who will light the cauldron?

-Bolt admits in an interview with the BBC that whilst not 100% fit, he is 95% fit and is hoping to defend his Olympic golds from Beijing. He also concedes that the past few months have been very hard for him, what with injury and 'lackluster form':

-Although Cycling is on everyone's minds after Bradley Wiggins' historic Tour De France win, it's even more important for Chen Guanming, who has cycled from Beijing to London...by Rickshaw. He's travelled over 60,000km through 16 countries, floods, warzones, and temperatures from 35 to -20...take that Wiggins!
