He does state why, I read this one at BBC news, it says it's mainly because of the UI and because of the Windows Store. He fears that if Microsoft chooses a closed plattform, it would be a threat to Steam. If Microsoft actually does that, I don't see how that wouldn't be less of a 'Catastrophe' for Valve.

No Steam = no Windows. Steam is the platform that I have invested by far the most time and money in. I'm sure I'm not the only one either.
