Those numbers are less than NSMB and NSMB Wii openings in JP. Ill admit, I aint done much research... But Id have thought a new, 2D Mario would perform quite similar.

Honestly thought people were lowballing, to say they were surprised by sales is there something Ive missed?

Well, for one this one includes a big push for digital downloads - it's being pushed by Nintendo themselves with coin bonus and stuff like that - I think a free DK Kong too.

For two it's only two days of sales, compared to the common 4 days most games get.It's being released on a saturday, a thing mostly common for DQ games.

But as a positive, the new 3DS may influence its sales a bit.
