I already posted my thoughts about that 2 posts ago. I will repeat for you: Fact: The market isnt growing anymore (last year). Fact: Some games hit new sales records last year. Fact: consoles hit more than 120 million installed base last year. Conclusion: A good game will have an impact and garner more sales in this market then the same game in a new console that just launched (for obvious reasons, the market is nowhere near as big). And the reason i quote you is because you confronted my opinion aswell as the threads OP and others when i think that what they are saying has logic. I told you why and why the view that the market is terribad now is short-sighted and ignores the envyronment variables. There is a recession going on that is impacting the whole world. It has an impact on the games industry as it does on other industries. People have less money to spend on games. Make up your logic is make up your interpretation. Publishers/developers are planning their future and as i said on the other post, they want all consoles to be around the same level of power so they can maximise profits in the future. I'm really not gonna repeat this again. I hope you understand. |
@bold. You mentioned that for the first time here before I even entered the debate and was in the process of confronting you. You should have mentioned it earlier. On this point, there was also a ressession when Wii was launching, or a looming recession. A mini crash in 2008 if you remember correctly. So we don't know if it's the chicken or the egg. Is the market down due to recession, will the ressession stop people from buying (it didn't the Wii)? So these are all debatable things. And that's what I'm trying to say. Enough siding to side let's reason this stuff out!
@underlined. This has been addressed. Read zarx' post again. He mentions that the big games get good reception, but the smaller or new IPs are in more danger. That's exactly what Yves Guillemot said in the latest news article here -> http://www.vgchartz.com/article/250281/ubisoft-current-generation-is-too-long/
So how does underlined address any of the points raised? Fact: It doesn't.
@italics. Yet just earlier you told me "it's just opinions". So which one is it?? I honestly hate this.
@the last bit. I hope to understand, but I honestly don't know what you mean. Take a second to explain now that I've joined the debate.
