When weighed against sheer number of PC's, the sales are abyssmal. But it's really rather good for a PC shooter, especially one that caters to such a niche audience (i.e; those who have 3000-5000$ and up worth of rig...).
I don't think they'll make the same approcah with Far Cry 2, however, and Crytek themselves have stated that they aim to make that title "Readily available to most home computers" whatever that means.
I mean, Crysis would've been available for my old rig as well, despite having to be run 320X240 with software rendering and 8 bit particles...

Actually, I doubt it would take even $3000 to build a PC that can run Crysis, unless you are referring to those who can't live without the highest performance...

Those were the people I was referring to, yes... They tried maxing Crysis on a quadcore @ 3.2 GHz and with 8GB RAM and a quadruple (!) 8800GTS, and only maintained a little over 30 fps on average, and having it dip all the way to 7 fps. So anyone who tries telling me that they maxed Crysis on their PC gets a laugh and a sigh! I have a pretty hefty rig myself, but had to play on medium settings and low counts on AA and lighting/shadows.

It's not that Crysis looks so amazing (because it doesn't imo), it's just that it's so horribly optimized that no one can play it properly (by properly I mean on full settings, like geeks such as me buy powerful rigs for).
