It does have games, but where's the killer app? Where's the incentive for the average consumer to say 'BUY ME!'? I don't see it. Very few of those games will break 500k, and one of two may, MAY hit 1mil after a long time.
And don't say COD or Assassin's Creed, neither have done well on established consoles before, that isn't changing now. COD is very much a console affair. Why would the average consumer buy a Vita, a memory card and the game (coming to near £300, likely), when they could get it on an established console, with millions online, for less than 1/5th the price? Assassin's Creed has a similar problem, but not as bad. The short-burst mission structure works well for handhelds, so it could push a few systems.
What's missing? A GTA. A Final Fantasy. A Monster Hunter. A Gran Turismo. A Ratchet And Clank. All exclusive. Any one of those five would immediately make the system worth buying for many, but for now, Sony seem more interested in, as you mentioned, the Wonderbook than even letting people know the Vita exsists, let alone what games are avaliable for it...
The Vita is a great system. I love mine, and I love Gravity Rush. But that's all I have. And that's finished. What now? The other features can only interest you for so long, it's the games that will talk. But it can never be considered a success until it has these 'killer-apps', and until it sells well (well over 100k each week). So, for now (regreattably), it is doomed.
And your poll is a lie. The options are either 'yes, it's the best handheld ever', or 'well, it'll be good even if it sells badly'. But I'm sure that was deliberate.
